About Us
Café René is an award winning city-centre pub serving up hot food, cold beer and a very warm welcome.
Since opening in 2003 Café René has been a champion of live music with regular nights of DJ’s, bands & artists covering a myriad of genres.
The annual summer blues festival brings in performers from around the globe and has become a stand-out event drawing crowds from far and wide. This year was a phenomenal turn-out, we'd like to thank everyone who came out to support the bands and the pub, helping us to keep the beer flowing and the live music alive!
Whether it’s a relaxing afternoon drink and a spot of lunch, romantic evening meal in our candlelit dining room or dance & party ‘til the small hours of a weekend..
‘It’s the kind of place where every nook has a story, from the stone well in the centre to the wine bottle-lined ceiling - a perfect blend of rustic charm. Housed in a historic building, it has a cosy, character-rich atmosphere that makes the entire dining experience feel special and memorable.’
24-Hour Licence
Café René was the first pub in Gloucester to get a 24-hour licence, and we're still proudly holding it down today. After over 20 years at the heart of the city, we’ve become a local favourite.
When Paul Soden opened Café René, his vision was clear: create a place where people could eat, drink, and hang out in a vibe he’d want to be part of. The result? A relaxed space where great food, drinks, music, and – most importantly – good company come together seamlessly.
Key Members of Gloucester LVA
